We hosted the 12th International Symposium on Application of Marine Geophysical Data and Undersea Feature Names. It has been held every year since 2006 to share and discuss latest issues in the field of marine geophysics and undersea feature names and saw participation of 67 people from governments, industry and academia. It was divided into two sessions - Advances of naming, standard and education; and Advances of marine geological researches - and there were eight oral presentations. The Joint Seminar between the Hydrographic Society of Korea (HySK), Wuhan University (WHU) and China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies was also held at the same time.

The President of the HySK, Prof. KIM Hyun-soo, opened the Symposium, followed by a welcome remarks by the Director General of KHOA, Mr. LEE Dong-jae. Dr. Hans Schenke, Chair of Sub-Committee on Undersea Feature Names (SCUFN) and Prof. YU Minyou, WHU, delivered congratulatory remarks. Mr. Antonio Williams from the National Land Agency of Jamaica also attended, who is an alumnus of the 2014 Category A Master of Science degree in Hydrographic Science at the University of Southern Mississippi, sponsored by the Republic of Korea.

We were very pleased to see that the participants actively engaged in discussion and enhanced their understanding and application of oceans.
