This jurisdiction covers the northern waters of the line drawn from Haenamgak (Earth end pagoda, Galdusan, Songji-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do: 34° 17′33.09"N, 126° 31′26.02"E) to 225°.

History

  1. 10 October 1963

    Opened as the Incheon Branch Office of the Hydrographic Division of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation.

  2. 13 February 1970

    Relocated to the Maritime Transportation Bureau of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation.

  3. 23 March 1979

    Reopened as the Incheon Branch Office of the Hydrographic Division of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation.

  4. 5 December 1987

    Renamed as the Janghang Branch Office.

  5. 13 February 1988

    Relocated to Incheon from Janghang.

  6. 26 November 1994

    Renamed as the Janghang Hydrographic Office the Hydrographic Division of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation.

  7. 9 August 1996

    Renamed as the Janghang Hydrographic and Oceanographic Office of MOF/ KHOA.

  8. 1 October 2002

    Renamed as the West Sea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Office.

  9. 29 February 2008

    Reorganized as the West Sea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Office of MLTM/KHOA.

  10. Apr. 28, 2009

    Relocated to a new government office building.
