Capacity Building

In line with the MOU between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) for Support of the IHO Programmes signed on 16 June 2011, the Government of the Republic of Korea makes a contribution to the IHO for the purpose of helping developing countries improve their ability to comply with international standards relating to hydrographic surveying, oceanographic observation, nautical charts and electronic navigation charts production.

Programmes supported by the Republic of Korea

Capacity Building (CB) activities to be financed by the contribution are jointly decided upon by the Republic of Korea and the IHO through the Programme Management Board (PMB) annual meetings and are included in the IHO Capacity Building Work Programme (CBWP).

The ROK supports several CB activities of the IHO Capacity Building Work Programme, including those of the Regional Hydrographic Commissions and the following:

Please note that support opportunities are only offered to those employed by a national hydrographic office, a maritime authority or a related national agency in IHO Member States. Calls for applications are made by IHO Circular Letters.
