The 18th International Hydrographic Conference was held in Monaco during April 23~27, 2012, in which one of the major issues was the much disputed appellation of the body of water between Korea and Japan.

Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration(KHOA) won the first prize among 27 participants in the 18th IHO Cartographic Exhibition.

The exhibition was held under the theme of "Bright and Smart Ocean", where cutting-edge surveying technology and various theme charts were introduced. In particular, Korea unveiled “Smart Surface Nautical Chart System(Touch Table System)", and the exhibition recognized Korean world-class excellency in ENC technology.
